Held in February 2022 at MAHO KUBOTA GALLERY in Jingumae, Tokyo, this exhibition (Japanese title: 星の時間) was curated by Nakano. It is a participatory, experimental installation that begins from the question of how, when we encounter great art, the brain receives its textures, turns them into thought, and files them into the library of memory. Each visitor puts on a headband that measures their brain state, and the data is projected in real time as imagery into a space composed of light and darkness through a specially designed system.

The title derives from Stefan Zweig’s writing and refers to the “star hours” – the decisive moments that arrive at the turning points of human history. It also resonates with a cosmic perspective: that the elements composing our bodies were born from the deaths of stars. For the exhibition, a set span of each visitor’s brain activity was recorded and extracted as NFT art.
